This is not a perfect likeness of the painter Chagall, but captures his spirit from his youth to old age....I used several photos, and when it came to this point I decided I would not make him older or younger but his old man's face as a young pixie. I sculpted the original on this shuttle-cock (though with the narrow end in his neck and the metal rings clamped to my worksurface). He just had to stay on it

I tried to meet Chagall several times at his villa in southern France....and waited around the park where he played boules,...but only saw him drive out of the gates. What a pest I was....it was really my wife's idea. We got invited to Isaac Singer's house and were corresponding with his wife Alma. Marc was not the same story. I hope he likes the bust.
